چکیده

The theory and design of a new family of multifrequency monopole antennas by smartly loading a set of complementary metamaterial transmission line (CMTL) unit cells are investigated. The distributed CMTL elements, epsilon negative (ENG) or double negative (DNG) through incorporating additional capacitive gaps, contain a Koch-shaped extended complementary single split ring resonator pair (K-ECSSRRP) etched on the signal strip. The KECSSRRP features dual-shunt branches in the equivalent circuit model, rendering a distinguished resonator with dual zeroth-order resonant (ZOR) modes. By smartly controlling the element layout and loading different numbers of unit cells, ten antennas covering different communication standards (GSM1800, UMTS, Bluetooth, DMB and WIMAX) are designed and four of them are fabricated and measured. At most of operating frequencies, the antennas exhibit impedance matching better than −10 dB and normal monopolar radiation patterns. Numerical and experimental results both confirm that the single-cell or dual-cell ENG and DNG CMTL-loaded monopoles exhibit almost identical dual ZOR modes. Moreover, the loaded elements also contribute to the radiation, which is the major advantage of this Received 24 December 2012, Accepted 21 February 2013, Scheduled 12 March 2013 * Corresponding author: He-Xiu Xu ([email protected]).

Compact Broadband Wilkinson Balun Using Metamaterial Transmission Lines

Recently, various structures such as zeroth order antennas, dual band branch line couplers, compact ring hybrids, broadband baluns, and so on, have been introduced by using metamaterial transmission lines (MTM TLs) of the composite right/left handed (CRLH) or the LC loaded (LCL) lines [1-2]. In general, most of passive circuits in RF/microwave systems are designed by using -90 or -180 phase s...

Compact triple-band metamaterial inspired monopole antennas

Here we present a comparison analysis on the single loop resonator (SLR) inspired triple-band monopole antennas. Two configurations with rectangular and circular shaped radiation patches are presented. Simultaneously, two feed techniques with coplanar waveguide and microstrip feeds are performed to drive the antennas. And the conventional planar monopole antennas without the SLRs are also analy...

Dual-layer Ebg Structures for Low-profile “bent” Monopole Antennas

We propose in this paper the design, realization and experimental characterization of a low-profile metamaterial “bent” monopole antenna with a total height of 0.027λ0 and a fractional bandwidth of 24.4% around 1.3GHz. The metamaterial (MTM) structure is a dual-layer mushroom-like electromagnetic band gap (DLEBG) conceived and optimized to improve the antenna’s operating bandwidth. Moreover, a ...
